The Look

It looks like reality has finally sunk in. Following release of the sham Republican “memo” by Devin Nunes alleging abuses by the FBI, Donald Trump sat before cameras and reporters and whined like a second grade boy who had been sent to the principal’s office for beating up little girls on the playground. He said, “The GOP memo is a disgrace…but a lot of people should be ashamed.”  Trump was correct on both accounts, but not for the reasons he was thinking. In fact, he did uncharacteristically appear like a very ashamed person.

Donald Trump ran a presidential campaign aimed at destroying the pillars of democracy. While a majority of Americans rejected his divisive tactics, he was nevertheless elected and installed by an antiquated electoral college. Now, the founding fathers have risen from their graves and are striking back with the rule of law.

The king of grifters―a liar, thief, traitor, con man, sexual predator and a man who has generally bullied his way through life―now understands that the myrmidons of law and social etiquette are closing in. Some of his family members, and perhaps even Trump himself, are going to prison.

Unlike the rest of us, Trump’s avuncular patron has never been “Uncle Sam.” Trump was a five-deferment draft dodger, and thus avoided what could have been character-building instruction.  Rather, he was guided through life by a father who was arrested at a rally for the Ku Klux Klan, and reptilian practitioners of law like Roy Cohn and Michael Cohen.

Roy Cohn, it will be recalled, assisted Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy in his ill-founded crusade against communism. His later clients were mostly members of the American Mafia and Donald Trump. A federal investigation during the 70’s and 80’s has revealed that Cohn was charged three times with professional misconduct, including perjury and witness tampering. In 1986, a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court disbarred Cohn for life due to unethical and unprofessional conduct.

Michael Cohen―miraculously―is still practicing law. His law degree comes from what many describe as a “second-rate educator,” Cooley Law School. He has served as Executive Vice-President of the Trump Organization and special counsel to Trump; essentially, Trump’s pit bull. Consequently, he is the vanguard for many of the shady deals authored by Donald Trump, the most recent of which was his use of Essential Consultants LLC, a Trump pseudonym created for the express purpose of paying off porn star Stormy Daniels for her silence prior to the 2016 presidential election. In addition to dishonest, Cohen should also be considered dangerous. Following Cohen’s “Let’s gut her” threat, media megastar Megyn Kelly was compelled to hire private security for a full year to protect herself and her family.

Donald Trump spits out lies with the rapidity of a machine gun. A conservative accounting (addressing only a one-year period) by one media outlet registered the number of falsehoods to be more than 2000. That he is a thief can be confirmed by the many contractors and vendors he has stiffed for amounts due. New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman proved that Trump was a con man by successfully suing Trump University as a “fraud, and a phony university.” Trump’s failure to acknowledge that Russia interfered in our last presidential election (for his benefit, of course), and refusal to implement sanctions authorized by a nearly unanimous vote of Congress demonstrates that he is more interested in the success of Russia, than in the oath which he continues to violate; which obviously points to a conclusion of treason.  In addition, Trump bragged on taped audio and video that he was a sexual predator, and a large number of women have come forward to provide credible evidence of the same.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller III has pierced the veil surrounding Trump’s lifelong collaboration with mobsters. With constant chatter in the media concerning the idea that Trump will find a way to fire Mueller, it seems likely that Mueller probably has already obtained sealed indictments by the federal grand jury for prosecution of Trump family members. Furthermore, it is public knowledge that Mueller has been sharing evidentiary findings of his investigation with New York AG Schneiderman. Consequently, a presidential pardon will be of limited value to members and associates of the Trump family. The choice they will be left with is one of small distinction; either state, or federal prison.

So much for “shame” and “disgrace.” For a brief moment in a year of utter chaos, the viewing audience saw a vulnerable Donald Trump wearing that “hunted” look; the same look worn by Adolph Hitler as he crawled into his bunker, knowing both that the end was near, and that he would be held accountable for murdering six million innocent Jews.

Open Your Eyes, America

That pathetic excuse for a life-form we know as our president has been selling out America to the Russians for decades. Donald Trump is a Russian spy, and the incriminating evidence is overwhelming.

Trump’s insatiable love for money made him a perfect target for Russian spy recruiters following the collapse of his business empire (as revealed by his 1995 tax return). His debts far exceeded his assets.

The initial objective, insofar as Vladimir Putin was concerned, was to export and launder money obtained by Russian mobsters and oligarchs by purchasing condominium units―mostly from Trump―throughout the world. Estimates put the amount of money that has left Russia under Putin’s watch at $1.7 trillion.

The second objective, which has been likewise successful, was to obtain visas for Russian spies, followed by placing those spies into condominiums purchased with tainted funds in New York City and other intelligence-rich venues. A visa is obtained in this manner by simply flashing the half-million dollar or more purchase price. Mission complete―regardless of background.

Vladimir Putin was an integral part of the former Soviet Union’s secret police force, otherwise known as the KGB. Never in his wildest fantasies did Putin ever dream of placing an obedient operative at the highest level of American government, but now, the evidence demonstrates that he has done just that.

Donald Trump has been passing state secrets to the Soviets almost from the first day he began receiving daily intelligence briefings as a primary candidate for president. In a curious twist, this condemning information was mostly revealed by Russian government official news agencies.

Shortly after he fired FBI Director James Comey, and unknown to American media outlets, Trump invited Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak to the Oval Office. Trump claimed the pressure of the investigation into Russian meddling into the recent presidential election was “off,” after he fired that “nutjob Comey.”  Trump further revealed highly sensitive code-word intelligence to the Russians during the meeting. Photos and the substance of the meeting were released by Tass, Russia’s official news outlet. It seems a small wonder that former CIA head James Clapper has commented that Trump is an “asset for Vladimir Putin.”

Trump has at times used American news outlets for the release of highly sensitive top secret information. The New York Times reported in May that Trump revealed to Philippine strongman Rodrigo Duterte that Washington had sent two nuclear submarines to patrol waters off the Korean peninsula.

Likewise, during his first year in the White House, Trump, a self-exposed pathological liar, has arranged several personal meetings, and participated in several phone calls with Putin, all without witnesses, and most of which were first revealed by Russian news agencies.

Next, Trump invited―secretly―the chief of Russian spy operations, Sergei Naryshkin, to Washington for consultations. Following Russia’s invasion of Crimea, Naryshkin’s assets have been frozen, and he was forbidden entry into the United States. Nevertheless, Trump invited him to a meeting with CIA Director Mike Pompeo. The meeting was first reported by Russia’s state television, Rossiya 1. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reportedly demanded an explanation for the visit, but, quite obviously, he will not get one. Yet, even if an explanation were offered, who would believe another lie?

Trump had already turned over to the Russians all of America’s most sensitive intelligence information, with exception of the source and methods process involved in rooting out spies. With the assistance of Devin Nunes, he made this final bit of information available to the Russians.

Donald Trump saved his crowning “spy achievement” for when the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller III got too close for comfort. He had lapdog  Nunes (a member of the Trump Presidential Transition team) construct a partisan “memo” which  cherry-picked events from a FISA warrant which had been issued and reissued several times to investigate the espionage activities of Trump presidential campaign member Carter Page. Thus, Trump made it possible for Russians to gain the last bit of intelligence they were lacking―which was the source and methods involved in outing spies.

Through information provided by Donald Trump and Edward Snowden, Russia is in possession of all of America’s secrets. To protect future intelligence assets, the primary collector of such information, the FBI, must refuse access to all Congress members. Consequently, if there is a real need to know, these individuals can go to a court to force release of the relevant documents, and face criminal penalty if they abuse in any fashion the access granted.

If Donald Trump is not a spy, find a better reason for his refusal to initiate sanctions which were nearly unanimously authorized by Congress, along with his refusal to acknowledge what every expert says was interference by Russia―both past and ongoing―in our elections.

It is painfully obvious that Donald Trump is a man whose only allegiance is to Vladimir Putin. We may as well put the Russian Federation flag over the White House, and call it a day. Congratulations, America;   this could not have happened without your indifference.

Conspiracy At The Top

“We put out a lineand pulled in Moby Dick.” Testimony of Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson before the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee.

Donald Trump’s preferred business associates have always been mobsters. The research conducted by Glenn Simpson’s firm into Trump’s business empire yielded the startling fact of Trump’s early connections to Italian mafia, and later dealings with Russian mob figures. Under federal law, this is what is known as an “association in fact.” It was also revealed that much of Trump’s wealth comes from trusts set up by his late father, and from Russian money funneled into properties located in Toronto, Panama and elsewhere.  Now, according to Simpson’s sworn testimony, it appears that even the National Rifle Association (NRA) was willing to sell its soul by acting as a conduit for Russian funds that found their way into the Trump presidential election campaign. The narrative that follows deals with Russian money invested into Trump properties so Donald Trump could con American tax payers out of nearly one billion dollars. However, Donald Trump is not the only person or entity in America participating in this conspiracy.

It should be noted that furious attempts by Fox News and certain congressional representatives to destroy the Federal Bureau of Investigation and its leaders began in earnest shortly after Simpson testified before House and Senate committees. Republicans tried to keep Simpson’s testimony under wraps while the likes of Devin Nunes (R-Ca) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) launched an all-out attack on the FBI. This leaves us to wonder whether these two congressmen are simply garden variety criminals, or treason-peddling fascists who are using their positions in the House Freedom Caucus in a larger attempt by that group to overthrow the government of the United States.  Either way, they are on the wrong side of facts and law, not to mention the better interests of the American people.

A clandestinely exposed tax return for the year 1995 reveals that Donald Trump mismanaged three Atlantic City casinos, lost money on an airline venture, and lost even more through the ill-timed purchase of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.  The sum of his misadventures totaled 916 million dollars; Trump was insolvent because his liabilities far exceeded his assets.

Any certified public accountant (CPA) would urge an executive in Trump’s position to make use of an Internal Revenue Service provision known as the “business carryover loss and credit against subsequent taxes owed.”  The regulation allows any business that has suffered a loss to recover the full amount lost over a period of twenty years.  The obvious rub is that a business must “stay in business” to receive the benefit.  But Trump had a history of bankruptcy, and of stiffing vendors and financers alike for amounts due, and for that reason, could not find a lender anywhere in the United States that would loan him a nickel.  Nevertheless, he could get money with strings attached from Russian oligarchs, and Simpson testified that Trump could also get funds if he could prove a certain occupancy level in condominium properties.  Simpson further testified that Russians began populating Trump condominiums in Panama and Toronto at a level that allowed Trump to borrow more money.  Both of Trump’s older sons have confirmed at various times that most of the money for the family business comes from Russians. Consequently, Trump illicitly turned his insolvency into a continuing business and began charging his 1995 losses to the United States Treasury.

It is a felony when two or more persons conspire to commit a crime against, or to defraud the United States. The attempt does not even have to be successful (Title 18, United States Code, Section 371). The reason that Donald Trump has refused to release his tax returns becomes obvious through Simpson’s congressional testimony.  One can look at Trump’s inclusion of the “business carryover loss” on each of his information returns and use Simpson’s testimony to backtrack to the financial transactions that made them possible. Given the reality of Trump’s billion-dollar predicament, no honest person could have survived. The fact of criminality and number of perpetrators would at very least be a jury issue, and at most mean prison terms and divestment of criminal proceeds for many individuals. Nevertheless, in this manner, Trump pilfered large amounts from the public treasury; much more than a billion dollars when interest is compounded on the daily basis used by the IRS.  This money can be recovered―and should be―using the same statute (18 USC §1961-68)  that United States attorneys within the Justice Department used to largely put the American Mafia out of business.

Even the most ardent Trump supporters will be shocked into breathlessness when Special Counsel Robert Mueller III issues his final report. Mueller is an unbiased and straightforward investigator, and his finished product will expose Donald Trump, some of his associates, and much of his family to prison terms. Anticipating the possibility of a presidential pardon for the participants in Trump’s pattern of racketeering activity, Mueller collaborated with, and shared facts with New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who in the past has been forced to prosecute Donald Trump for fraud (Trump University). This outcome explains why Devin Nunes, Jim Howard and their minions at Fox News launched vicious and unwarranted attacks against Mueller, the FBI and its leaders.

It is public knowledge that Trump has been laundering dirty Russian money since the day he met David Bogatin in 1984. Investigative reporter Craig Unger, in a revealing and explosive September 2017 article for New Republic entitled “Trump’s Russian Laundromat” exposed Donald Trump’s longstanding connection to Russian mob leaders, and among other things stated:

“How to use Trump Tower and other luxury high-rises to clean dirty money, run an international crime syndicate, and propel a failed real estate developer into the White House. Also, it was stated that some 1.3 trillion dollars, presumably marked for laundering activities, had been exported from Russia since Vladimir Putin took control of the Russian Federation.”

Simply stated, using illegal means (money laundering) to accomplish something legal (a tax refund) is a federal violation of both conspiracy and racketeering statutes. Consequently, United States taxpayers are entitled to treble damages pursuant to 18 USC §1964(c), of the amounts, plus interest, that Trump received via tax refunds. Actuarial services would be required for a true and accurate accounting, but the final amount due, even without penalties, would have to fall somewhere between 10 and 20 billion dollars. This seems like an altogether fitting and proper end for the Trump Empire.

After a full year of never ending chaos, we can adopt a word recently made famous by our “exquisite” leader. At the present, there is only one “shithole” of any relevance in the world. It is a national park that may be viewed at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Are You A Republican?

A new year is upon us. This is a time when people indulge that time-honored tradition―a New Year’s resolution―of resolving to change an undesired trait or behavior. It is in this spirit that the following survey is offered for politicians and their faithful supporters.

Has anyone ever called you a “miserable son of a bitch?  If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican.  Former Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner, during a speech in 2016 called Texas Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh,” and further stated: “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone. But I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”

Are you a white nationalist who believes that racial diversity is not our strength as a country? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican. Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa), quoting Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban, tweeted “Diversity is not our strength. Mixing cultures will not lead to a higher quality of life but a lower one.” In addition, King has frequently questioned contributions to society by non-white people.

Have you ever supported, or voted for a person facing credible accusations of pedophilia? If the answer is yes, you could only be a Republican. Former U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore, who, as a man in his thirties only enjoyed the company of teenage girls, was endorsed by the Republican President and supported financially by the Republican National Committee, headed by Ronna Romney McDaniel.

For men: have you ever bragged that you are a “star,” and this therefore gives you the power to grab female genitalia without consequence? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican.  The infamous “Access Hollywood” videotape revealed only one out of a host of character defects in the Republican who resides in the White House.

For women: have you ever voted for a man who brags about his prowess in molesting women? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican.  There are two streams of thought here. First, you might be an introvert who has latent fantasies of bedding a billionaire, and second, you might be a brazen extrovert (also known as a tramp) who openly accepts an invitation to slither into the gutter and wallow in the filth and perversions of a Republican Commander-in-Chief.

For self-styled Evangelicals:  does your faith in God give you confidence to stand before a crowd of reporters and lie with a straight face? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders proliferates lies on a daily basis. A study by the Washington Post reveals that the number of lies in the first year of the current administration is over 1,000, as compared with 18 by the previous administration over a four-year period. The only time that Sanders does not lie, like her boss, is when her lips are not moving.

Have you ever attempted to subvert the rule of law? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican…not to mention a traitor. It is common knowledge that Russians interfered with our last presidential election. We also know that certain Americans assisted the Russians. At this time, we do not know what these Americans received in return for their treasonous acts. Nevertheless, Congressmen Devin Nunes (R-Ca) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are acting like lawyers for the Kremlin in their bold attempts to undermine the FBI and the ongoing investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russian collusion and conspiracy.

Have you ever accepted a bribe to vote in a certain way? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican.  Representative Chris Collins (R-NY) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) publicly admitted that their contributions from big donors would end following their failure to repeal the Affordable Care Act, if they did not soon do something to enrich their political benefactors (“Get it done, or don’t ever call me again”). At the time of these statements, a “tax reform” package was on the legislative agenda.

As a legislator, have you ever voted in favor of a bill that would greatly enrich your finances? If the answer is yes, you might be a Republican. The recently passed Republican tax bill greatly enriched many of the senators and representatives who voted on it, not to mention the man who signed the bill into law. No Democrats voted in favor of the bill. Pundits referred to one of the more noteworthy Republican votes as the vehicle for a “Corker-Kickback.”

If you answered yes to one of the above questions, you have the necessary credentials to present yourself as a bona fide member of the Republican Party; this must be a great source of pride for yourself, your family and your community. If you answered yes to three of the foregoing questions, you are a contemptible person, and probably a traitor. If you answered yes to all of the above questions, you are a revolting specimen of humanity, and not even decades of successful New Year’s resolutions will eradicate your moral unfitness.

This year past has been a period of unprecedented tumult. Republicans have led a withering assault against free speech, the rule of law and the various institutions of democracy. They have poisoned the air, given corporations the authority to fleece the public, stolen  public lands, and in a final act of contempt for hard working Americans, lined the already deep pockets of wealthy individuals with a pseudo-tax reform act that future generations will be forced to pay for.

To those who are not Republicans, HAPPY NEW YEAR! And good luck with saving our democracy in the coming months. The storm is gathering.

Russian Lapdogs

A question for democracy loving citizens:  why would Vladimir Putin waste time and money recruiting and training spies to plant in the United States, when he already has willing American citizens fulfilling his espionage agenda? The institutions of democracy are presently under a three-pronged attack emanating from the White House, Fox News, and even the United States House of Representatives.

There is nothing complicated about Vladimir Putin’s agenda. His North Star is greed; the accumulation of money.  To feed his insatiable beast, he needs power. Putin received a prolific education during his tenure at the Soviet KGB on how to use propaganda to destabilize governments and is now using social media supported by turncoat domestic players to attack every democratic government on the planet.

Forbes Magazine claims the world’s wealthiest billionaires are collectively worth $7.05 trillion.   However, a strong case can be made that it is Vladimir Putin, and not Bill Gates (estimated net worth 89.2 billion), who is the richest man in the world.

It was stated that some 1.3 trillion dollars has been exported from Russia since Vladimir Putin took control of the Russian Federation.”

All of the money that left Russia under Putin’s watch is either deposited in hidden bank accounts outside of Russia, or held by oligarchs who, as a matter of self-preservation, report directly to Putin. Both of Donald Trump’s sons―supposed caretakers of the family business―have admitted in the past that most of their business capital comes from Russian sources. Reliable intelligence agencies have reported that the Trump campaign received Russian assistance in obtaining the presidency of the United States, which ongoing investigation Donald Trump continues to label as a “witch hunt.” This failure to admit the obvious brings us to an old adage: “You don’t bite the hand that feeds you.”

Next comes Fox News led by conspiracy monger Sean Hannity and acid-tongued trollop Jenine Pirro. These fascist-inspired Putin puppets desire a totalitarian government directed by an autocrat, and will use any subversive item in the traitor’s tool chest to achieve as much.

Conspiracy theorists fall into two categories. Most psychologists can diagnose the first type, like Alex Jones, as suffering from paranoid delusion disorder (PDD). It was Jones who claimed that the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre of 20 schoolchildren and 6 staff members by Adam Lanza never happened, and was instead a charade carried out by “government crisis actors.”

The second type, like Hannity, are outright liars who prey on the gullible instincts of an older viewing audience in furtherance of a fascist agenda. Out of a number of his conspiracies that insult even the most conservative members of the viewing public comes his knowingly false claim that Democratic National Committee employee Seth Rich was murdered for leaking DNC emails. Hannity’s claim, of course, was clearly intended to throw both investigators and the public off the trail of the true leakers, which was the Russian government.

Next to free speech, the rule of law is one of the supporting pillars of a democracy. Pirro used her bully pulpit to make wildly false and destructive accusations against every enforcer and prosecutor of law she could locate within the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  As Pirro knows, none of these FBI employees are perfect, but they generally follow facts to a proper conclusion, and when they do not, they are proper subjects for punishment. The former prosecutor in the infamous “Duke Lacrosse” case learned this lesson the hard way. Sensible people should not bother tuning into this Putin Puppet.

The most dangerous infiltration of malign elements is presently occurring in the United States House of Representatives.  Along with the judiciary, Congress was intended by the framers to be a check on abusive power grabs by the Executive Branch. Nevertheless, Putin henchmen Devin Nunes (R-Ca) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), both in open hearings,  and behind the scenes with a secret committee, are attempting to undermine the legitimate investigation headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It could not be clearer that Nunes has abdicated his House responsibility through his frequent trips to the White House to rat out the results of the House probe. Indeed, the Special Counsel has already secured indictments and guilty pleas, nevertheless, these two wayward House members continue in their attempts to destroy Mueller’s credibility and end the continuing investigation into Russia’s interference in the last presidential election.

Take an objective look at the aforementioned “Americans.”  What do we call them―other than spies for Russia?

The Disease

There is a terminal illness sweeping across America. This apparent neurodegenerative disease primarily affects the older male population and is metastasizing before our eyes.  Greed appears to be one of a number of causative agents. The symptoms appear when men of previously sound mind get on their hands and knees and curry favor by licking the boots of a mentally ill sexual predator.  This disease, of course, is Donald Trump, and is transmitted like an STD to those who look into this man’s broken mind and like what they see. A final diagnosis for this disease is complete when the host-parasite symbiotic relationship has turned the willing subject into one of Donald Trump’s growing army of frighteningly submissive Stepford Wives.

Not every older white male has succumbed to this epidemic. The scholarly conservative George Will inoculated himself against this disease by leaving the Republican Party when it became apparent that Donald Trump would become its adopted leader.

We have seen the toxic effect of this disease before. During the first televised cabinet meeting of the new administration early in 2017, every department head, with the exception of Defense Secretary Doug Mattis, joined in a sycophantic tribute to Donald Trump.  Those Americans who still take pride in a government established by great men were deeply embarrassed and offended.

Visions of treason accompany this disease. Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, a spy who would know, has identified Donald Trump as an “asset” of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin. He further stated:  “Putin knows how to handle an asset, and that’s what he’s doing with Trump.” Indeed, every democracy in the world knows of Putin’s attempts to sow hate and discord as part of his plan to divide and conquer the Western Alliance of governments.

This disease has infected the U.S. House of Representatives; to what degree is an open question. We know there are representatives in the House who would rather serve under the iron fist of an autocrat than under a government of, by and for the people. Fascist inspired representatives, like Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who presently in public hearings is purposely undermining the criminal investigation led by Robert Mueller into the Russian penetration of our election process, and Devin Nunes (R-Ca), who is holding secret meetings aimed at likewise discrediting Mueller, are ignoring the fact that Mueller has already secured guilty pleas and indictments against high ranking Trump administration officials for criminal acts.  Apparently no one has reminded these conspiracy participants that America executed Ethel and Julius Rosenberg back in 1953 for the same kind of conduct.

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), once a highly respected lawmaker from Utah, has succumbed to the disease. On December 20, 2017, Hatch forever destroyed his legacy on the south lawn of the White House following passage of the Republican tax overhaul bill by describing this disease as “one heck of a leader” and “the greatest presidency ever.” Presidential historians, of course, will be quick to dispute this disease-infested claim, as will the person on Main Street, America.

Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn), who previously referred to Trump as “unstable” and warned that Trump’s threats (directed at North Korea) may set the nation “on the path to World War III,”   has had a change of heart and now has “empathy” for the man following disclosure of the benefits inuring to Corker flowing from his support of the recent tax bill.  This amazing reversal bears the strong flavor of greed and accurately fits the clinical description of an illness; in this case, a disease.

There is an antidote for this disease. You can bet your mortgage that impeachment proceedings will be the first order of new business when the U.S. House of Representatives convenes in January 2019. The ensuing trial in the Senate will be a Watergate-type spectacle raising issues of conspiracy, treason and obstruction of justice. Only then will Americans be able to assess the real and far-reaching impact of this poisonous epidemic.

This disease-ridden cabal of old white men has abdicated its duty to provide reasonable and effective leadership. As a result, there is a permanent stain on all of the institutions of American democracy.  Our society is in irreversible decline, and now it is time to let women take over, and make a nurturing slide into oblivion as comfortable as possible. Hospice will be the order of the day.

Truman Goodspeed, December 2017

EMASCULATED

Decent Americans have again been embarrassed by the latest episode of our Commander-in-Chief, a dizzying flurry of recent events that included Donald Trump’s claim that he is the “most presidential” of every president in history, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln.  However, Donald Trump’s reservation for a place on Mt. Rushmore has been resoundingly canceled by a Congress that still views Russia as the “evil empire.”

On July 24, 2017, Trump went to West Virginia to address the annual Boy Scouts jamboree. Trump opened his speech with the rhetorical question, “Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts?” Following that opening, Trump launched a self-aggrandizing political speech.  Trump later told the Wall Street Journal that the head of the Boy Scouts called him and said the politically aggressive speech was the greatest ever delivered to the Boy Scouts.  The leaders of the youth organization, of course, denied that such a call ever took place; they were deeply embarrassed by his appearance.

Next comes Trump’s story about how Mexican president Nieto called to praise the administration’s work on the United States and Mexican border. Nieto denied that such a call took place.

The next embarrassment came via a tweet, in which Trump stated, unbeknownst to military leaders,  “the military would not accept or allow transgender people to serve in any capacity because of the tremendous medical costs and disruption their service would bring.”  Fifty-six retired generals and admirals pushed back, arguing that such a ban would be disruptive and degrade military readiness.

In a speech before law enforcement officers in a New York City suburb, Trump encouraged police to “rough up” or “not be too nice” to suspects they take in custody. The Suffolk County Police Department responded immediately with “As a department, we do not, and will not tolerate roughing up prisoners.” Law enforcement agencies across the United States responded in a like manner.

The coupe de grâce for this amazing period in the Trump presidency was delivered by the Congress of the United States through veto-proof, bi-partisan legislation that included sanctions against Russia, North Korea and Iran, and limited the president’s authority to lift them. The measure was a result of deep concern that Trump had inexplicably befriended the Russians, following their interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump reluctantly signed the bill out of the public eye, and in a written caveat to Congress and reporters, in part, stated:

“This bill remains seriously flawed―particularly because it encroaches on the executive branch’s authority to negotiate…”

Fact is, Trump has never been a successful legitimate negotiator.  He has bullied and conned his way to whatever wealth and position he presently holds. Trump, like his father, is a showman―a carnival-barker prodigy from reality television. Craig Unger revealed as much in his New Republic article entitled Trump’s Russian Laundromat. That article exposed Trump as a “failed real estate developer” and explained how Trump used his condo units around the world to launder Russian mob profits.  Those profits allowed Trump to receive approximately 50 million dollars annually from the U.S. treasury for 18 years by taking advantage of a business loss carryover tax credit accumulated for the year 1995. It seems likely that Special Counsel Mueller will eventually demand Trump return that nearly one billion dollars to the people of the United States.

When that thick, acrid cloud of political smoke from the last few days cleared, a cowardly, pathetic and impotent liar emerged. Most unfortunately―at least for the present―this shell of a man is also President of the United States.
