The Disease

There is a terminal illness sweeping across America. This apparent neurodegenerative disease primarily affects the older male population and is metastasizing before our eyes.  Greed appears to be one of a number of causative agents. The symptoms appear when men of previously sound mind get on their hands and knees and curry favor by licking the boots of a mentally ill sexual predator.  This disease, of course, is Donald Trump, and is transmitted like an STD to those who look into this man’s broken mind and like what they see. A final diagnosis for this disease is complete when the host-parasite symbiotic relationship has turned the willing subject into one of Donald Trump’s growing army of frighteningly submissive Stepford Wives.

Not every older white male has succumbed to this epidemic. The scholarly conservative George Will inoculated himself against this disease by leaving the Republican Party when it became apparent that Donald Trump would become its adopted leader.

We have seen the toxic effect of this disease before. During the first televised cabinet meeting of the new administration early in 2017, every department head, with the exception of Defense Secretary Doug Mattis, joined in a sycophantic tribute to Donald Trump.  Those Americans who still take pride in a government established by great men were deeply embarrassed and offended.

Visions of treason accompany this disease. Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, a spy who would know, has identified Donald Trump as an “asset” of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin. He further stated:  “Putin knows how to handle an asset, and that’s what he’s doing with Trump.” Indeed, every democracy in the world knows of Putin’s attempts to sow hate and discord as part of his plan to divide and conquer the Western Alliance of governments.

This disease has infected the U.S. House of Representatives; to what degree is an open question. We know there are representatives in the House who would rather serve under the iron fist of an autocrat than under a government of, by and for the people. Fascist inspired representatives, like Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who presently in public hearings is purposely undermining the criminal investigation led by Robert Mueller into the Russian penetration of our election process, and Devin Nunes (R-Ca), who is holding secret meetings aimed at likewise discrediting Mueller, are ignoring the fact that Mueller has already secured guilty pleas and indictments against high ranking Trump administration officials for criminal acts.  Apparently no one has reminded these conspiracy participants that America executed Ethel and Julius Rosenberg back in 1953 for the same kind of conduct.

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), once a highly respected lawmaker from Utah, has succumbed to the disease. On December 20, 2017, Hatch forever destroyed his legacy on the south lawn of the White House following passage of the Republican tax overhaul bill by describing this disease as “one heck of a leader” and “the greatest presidency ever.” Presidential historians, of course, will be quick to dispute this disease-infested claim, as will the person on Main Street, America.

Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn), who previously referred to Trump as “unstable” and warned that Trump’s threats (directed at North Korea) may set the nation “on the path to World War III,”   has had a change of heart and now has “empathy” for the man following disclosure of the benefits inuring to Corker flowing from his support of the recent tax bill.  This amazing reversal bears the strong flavor of greed and accurately fits the clinical description of an illness; in this case, a disease.

There is an antidote for this disease. You can bet your mortgage that impeachment proceedings will be the first order of new business when the U.S. House of Representatives convenes in January 2019. The ensuing trial in the Senate will be a Watergate-type spectacle raising issues of conspiracy, treason and obstruction of justice. Only then will Americans be able to assess the real and far-reaching impact of this poisonous epidemic.

This disease-ridden cabal of old white men has abdicated its duty to provide reasonable and effective leadership. As a result, there is a permanent stain on all of the institutions of American democracy.  Our society is in irreversible decline, and now it is time to let women take over, and make a nurturing slide into oblivion as comfortable as possible. Hospice will be the order of the day.

Truman Goodspeed, December 2017

Pedophile Starter Kit

If you are one of those people who become aroused at the thought of intimate relations with children, following are some pointers to assist you in the advance of your prurient interests.

First, you will need appropriate employment; not just any job, but something that will allow you critical time to cruise malls, roadside rest areas and little girls dance recitals, without anything as mundane and interfering as a 40 hour per week regimen to hinder your desires.

It is suggested that you start your own foundation. Even better, make it an organization whose stated purpose is ministering to the moral needs of a wayward flock. After all, a self-righteous agenda is the best way to avoid the prying eyes of the Internal Revenue Service. This will allow you to solicit and receive donations from anyone–even neo-Nazis.  Next, you make public statements claiming that you do not draw a regular salary, but secretly arrange for yourself an annual stipend of $180,000.00. If the amount you have bilked from various sources falls short of your secret salary, then you simply take a note from the foundation for later payment. Thus, your cruising time, and the funds to support it, remains “unmolested.” As an addendum, it would be a good idea to pay your wife at least $65,000.00 per year so she can tell the world what a good Christian man you are when the victims of your cruising pursuits begin to surface.

Next, you will need support, so you may as well start at the top. History books will tell you that Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed in 1953 on charges of conspiracy for selling, among other things, nuclear secrets to the Soviets.  But things are different nowadays. The Executive branch has sold our government and leadership in the world to Vladimir Putin in exchange for a few billion in bank loans. Traitors and treason rule the day in Washington, D.C., so anyone with a desire to bash the LGBT community and people of color will not even make back page news.  Treason is foisted upon gullible citizens as “fake news.”

Likewise, you will find support with treason enablers in two-faced Senate Republicans. Only a few days ago, these glorious leaders were on their soapbox telling Americans how much more important that women and children were, when compared with alleged pedophiles.  But when a chance to honor their donors and the wealthiest corporations and individuals by brazenly raping the Middle Class arrived, they couldn’t jump at the opportunity to welcome a pedophile into their ranks quick enough. This sordid affair was best summed up by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), when he claimed that people like the Kochs and Mercers were entitled to unfair gratuities because they invest, while Middle Class Americans spend their money on booze, women and movies. The idea that transferring wealth from the Middle Class to greedy people as a way of creating economic expansion is pure myth, not to mention outright theft.

You will also have the support of the predominant Republican Evangelical clergy, no matter how unsavory the events of your past add up. All you have to do is attend church each Sunday and express fidelity to the Ten Commandments. But just think of the target-rich environment you might find there by becoming a Sunday school teacher.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy once quipped: “If you ever mow your lawn and find a car, you might be a redneck.” It appears that there are too many lawns in the state of Alabama that are in dire need of a manicure. This is the state that gave us their favorite sons, such as segregationist George Wallace and Liar-General Jefferson Sessions. Fear not, pedophile, if the myrmidons of law throw you out of office for refusing to submit to higher authority, your redneck brethren will find a new position for you.

Thieves, traitors, pedophiles…and two-faced Republicans; what an amazing team!

Crimes and Malpractice

On Friday night, December 1, 2017, the Republican controlled Senate gave us a vivid example of why the Congressional institution is rated in most polls even lower than used car salesmen.  Along party lines, by a 51-49 vote, the Senate gave approval to a tax-reform bill that most economists call the worst piece of legislation ever conjured up. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn) was the lone Republican to cast a dissenting vote.

The most alarming feature of this train wreck is the brazen manner in which these so-called public servants conducted themselves. There was a day when such measures were decided in smoke-filled back rooms, but many of these Senators openly admitted that they would vote for the measure to appease wealthy donors to their reelection campaigns. In legal parlance, this is acceptance of a bribe. Now, when the man on the street carries on in such manner, he goes to jail. But the same conduct gets the Congressman reelected, followed by retirement from public service, and a cushy job in the corporation of the briber as a lobbyist. This is the consequence of the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 US 310 (2010) is a landmark constitutional, campaign finance and corporation law. The Supreme Court held by a 5-4 margin that the free speech clause of the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for communications. What this means to the average person is this: every aspect of your life is under the control of any person with deep pockets.

Equally disturbing is the malpractice demonstrated in the passage of this bill. One Democratic Senator held up a handwritten page of the measure to be voted on, most of which was illegible. It may have provided for a truck load of money to be delivered to the front door of each affirmative vote…no one knows.  This is clear malfeasance and grounds for removal from office for 51 individuals.

These lawmakers─ most of whom are lawyers─understand that white collar crime is almost never punished; the perpetrator gets a slap on the wrist, pockets the proceeds of their criminal misadventure, and moves on to hatching a scheme for their next scam. Wells Fargo Bank is a prime example. One exception to this custom, of course, was Bernie Madoff, who stole 65 billion dollars from those who invested in his scheme. But even that amount is a mere pittance compared with the one to 1.5 trillion dollars that Republicans are now poised to steal from the public treasury and deliver to America’s richest corporations and wealthiest individuals.

The Republican Party is a dead entity. It presently operates under the influence of a sub-human species of fascists and racists. At the periphery of the organization is a group of conservative-minded Libertarians and blue collars. It is confusing how or why blue collar Republican voters continue to vote against self-interest. The Koch and Mercer families stab them in the back at every opportunity. In any event, we can now deduce that the Republican Party, if allowed to travel to its natural conclusion, will have its favorite sons entering public schools to choose which child they will molest next.

It seems the only option left is to undertake the monumental task of electing a veto-proof Congress of   progressives and independents. Hopefully, this revolution is successful before people who call themselves “Republicans” have destroyed this country and planet.

In The Beginning

What follows is not about the classic opening verse found in the Bible.  Much to the contrary, it is why Donald Trump is sweating like a whore in church. The indictments of Trump campaign officials Paul Manafort and Rick Gates by a federal grand jury have revealed Robert Mueller’s starting point for a legal process by which Trump will eventually resign the presidency of the United States so he can receive a pardon from Mike Pence.  Mueller will follow the money.

Manafort and Gates pleaded not guilty to 12 counts, including tax fraud, money laundering and conspiracy.  Even more damaging than these indictments, however, was the announcement that former Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulus had secretly pleaded guilty two weeks earlier to charges of lying to the F.B.I. about contacts with Russian intelligence operatives; he has been cooperating with authorities, and may have even been wired during his conversations with former colleagues. Clearly, the walls are closing in, and it appears that members of Trump’s immediate family are in Mueller’s crosshairs.

Now we can look back at Donald Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns and understand the reason why. There are too many leads for a good prosecutor to pursue. Furthermore, following a business loss of nearly one billion dollars, as referenced on his 1995 tax return, U.S. Bankers considered Trump an extremely poor risk. Trump had to resort to overseas financiers, and both of his sons have publicly admitted that most of those funds came from Russia. No wonder Trump would not say anything negative about Russia; this seeming failure to admit the obvious demonstrates how a debtor-creditor relationship remains amicable.

Donald Trump is a TRAITOR, as are many of those who worked in his presidential campaign.  These people make Benedict Arnold look like a choirboy. They turned our electoral process over to archenemy Russia, which, no matter how you cut it, is a conspiracy against the United States and its citizens.

The truly sad part of this sordid affair is that approximately 30 per cent of the population, knowing that treason has occurred, will continue to support Donald Trump. Among this group is found human waste,  like Richard Spencer and David Duke, a propaganda machine which calls itself Fox News, Trump apologists in Congress like Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and Peter King (R-NY),  and finally, those suffering the Dunning-Kruger Effect, which is the inability of stupid people to recognize their own stupidity.

Nevertheless, as Papadopoulus sings his heart out, we can take a lead from professionl singers, The Carpenters, and their hit song “We’ve Only Just Begun.”

Evangelism in America-Part II

It was previously established that a majority of evangelists continue to support Donald Trump. In doing so, they have violated the central tenets of Christian doctrine,  and by their own standard of judgment―as delivered by Jesus Christ during the Sermon on the Mount― are on the short track to hell.

If it were only false piety like that exposed by Sinclair Lewis in Elmer Gantry that mainstream America had to deal with, most people would just chuckle and walk away.  But this doctrine-ignoring breed of evangelist deals in the currency of pure, unbridled hate; hate for everyone, and everything, that is “different.”

Each year the so-called Values Voter Conference meets. The gathering attracts evangelists and the brightest stars in the constellation of extreme right wing activists; it is hailed as an event staged for the purest of the pure.

This year the meeting at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C provided a glimpse into the minds of the organizers, for the invitees included the likes of Donald Trump, Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka.  The trio presented their well-known spiels, much to applause and standing ovations from the conference attendees.  Journalist Sarah Jones covered the event for the magazine National Review. At the end of her report, she stated:

“At the heart of this drive for purity, and the overweening resentment it produces, is not Christian spirituality, but a fear of being eclipsed by people who are not like them―a fear of replacement. The underlying similarities with the white supremacists who marched in Charlottesville ―those who chanted, “You will not replace us”―are hard to ignore.”

In sum, this annual event is a gathering of white anarchist haters who despise liberals, prefer propaganda over a free press, and seem unconcerned that the White House has been turned into a branch office of the Kremlin. They have turned the word “values” on it head.  Indeed, their diseased campaign against diversity, and what they consider as values, is not anything decent people would teach to their children and grandchildren.

Not every evangelist is a bible-thumping hate-monger. Take former president Jimmy Carter, for example. Carter wore his religion on his sleeve, but he lived it also. He was and is a major influence on the Habitat for Humanity project―a housing development plan for low-income, diverse populations.  In 2002, Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the Carter Center, which focused on advancing human rights throughout the world. Unlike Carter, the current evangelist majority seeks to take rights away from anyone who is different.

The most famous evangelist of them all, the Reverend Billy Graham,―if he were young and healthy again―would never stand by idly while his brethren support a mentally ill man, or join in the lies and hypocrisy that are so evident in the evangelist movement nowadays. For it was Graham who repudiated segregation and created the former view held by evangelicals; which was to appreciate and tolerate the differences in diverse populations.  And what was the tribute by modern evangelists to Graham’s life of exemplary service to God and humankind?  Again, HATE.

Then there is evangelist Jim Bakker. Bakker used his PTL (Praise The Lord) enterprise and a sappy, tear-jerking television ministry to encourage donations from people who could ill afford to part with money.  It was estimated that he was pulling in one million dollars per week. His empire crumbled after he was accused of rape by his secretary. The ensuing investigation revealed that he was running two sets of books, and he was ultimately convicted of mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison by an irate judge, and fined $500,000.00. The 45 years and fine were reduced to eight years in 1991 by a federal appeals court. This evangelist was not so different from the current wave of evangelists… Bakker admitted that the first time he actually read the Bible all the way through was while he was in prison. So there you have it―an ignorant evangelist using lies to defraud octogenarian widows of their last dollar so he could install gold fixtures in the bathroom of his mansion, and likewise ignorant Trump evangelists spewing hate in an attempt to deprive “different” people of their legal rights.

On the scale of humanity, these evangelists rank alongside pedophiles ―although pedophiles might be a bit embarrassed at being associated with hate-mongers who masquerade as Christians.

Compared with evangelist hero Donald Trump, Attila the Hun would be a candidate for sainthood. Nevertheless, these evangelicals have a constitutional right to support the vilest person they can latch unto; in this instance, a thrice-married sexual predator.  However, they do not have a right to use their tax-exempt status for political ends, which, strictly construed, is exactly what is happening. If evangelists continue to commingle politics with what they refer to as “religion,” then it is high time for them to pay taxes on the tainted proceeds they receive from tithing.

Evangelism in America

The first part of the First Amendment to the Constitution relates that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”  Our founding fathers intended through this phrase to create a wall of separation between church and state, and Thomas Jefferson confirmed as much in an 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association. But nowadays, self-styled evangelicals seem more than willing to fuse the faith of religion with the tawdry world of politics. And politicians actively court this conservative and mostly rural voting bloc.

Evangelism originated in the writings of the four authors of the New Testament Gospel. Those authors were Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The doctrine that emerged maintained Jesus Christ as Savior, and the Bible as the only rule of faith. The adherents to this doctrine refer to themselves as Christians, or “born again Christians” ―evangelicals, one and all.

An August, 2017 Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that 62 per cent of white evangelicals continue to support  Donald Trump, knowing full well that this man spews forth more filth than any sewage treatment plant can handle, and more lies than any person can count. The political role models for this wayward flock appear to be Congressman Steve King and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The presidency of Donald Trump reveals the shining temple of evangelism as a sanctuary for liars, bigots and hate-mongers. But this is not exactly a new development. Nobel Prize for Literature winner Sinclair Lewis (1885-1951) caused quite an uproar in the evangelist community when he published the novel Elmer Gantry in 1927. In the novel, protagonist  Gantry begins his career as a greedy, philandering Baptist minister who turns to evangelism and becomes the leader of a large Methodist congregation. Along the way, Gantry encounters fellow religious hypocrites Mrs. Evans Riddle, Judson Roberts, and a romantic interest, one Sharon Falconer. Like modern evangelists, Gantry is often exposed as a fraud, and yet is never fully discredited.

One of the recognized hotbeds for evangelical activism is Iowa’s fourth congressional district. It is a magnet for conservative office seekers every presidential election cycle. It is also a largely a rural district, and is represented by Republican Steve King, who has been a member of Congress since 2003. The controversial Congressman set off an avalanche of criticism when he used his Tweet app to say, “civilizations can’t be restored with someone else’s babies.” During an interview with CNN three days later, King doubled down on the racist comment, saying he “meant exactly what he said.”  King’s comments were retweeted by white nationalist David Duke, the former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, along with “God Bless Steve King.” Onward Christian Soldiers, so to speak.

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was never comfortable with the lies the administration trotted him out to dispense on a daily basis. This was obvious on the very first day of his job when he was charged with grossly inflating the size of the crowd on Inauguration Day. On the other hand, his horse-faced successor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, proved to be a very accomplished deflector and liar. It was suggested by faith-based commentators that her belief in God, and the election of Donald Trump as “God’s will,” gave her supreme confidence to stand at the podium before the White House Press Corps and pass out facts that she knew were false.

These evangelists have already reserved their place in heaven, but it would seem their Savior has a grim outlook on liars, not to mention a different idea of an eternal resting place.  In the words of Jesus Christ, recorded in the gospel of St.John 8, verses 42-47:

42. If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43. Why do ye not understand my speech?  Even because ye cannot hear my word.  44.  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do:  he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth; because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.  46. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47.  He that is of God, heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Alas, the spirit of Elmer Gantry is alive and well in the evangelist movement.

It was English philosopher John Locke who inspired Thomas Jefferson’s use of the words “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” in the Declaration of Independence.

The most coveted aspects of liberty entail not only freedom of thought, but also the right to give public expression to thoughts. There is likewise a freedom of behavior―however bizarre or antithetical to public norms ―and a right to associate with others of the same ideation. These freedoms are codified in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

These so-called “unalienable rights”  have allowed America to flourish, but they have also come at a very high cost. Without interference from government, citizens can be racist, misogynist, communist, or neo-fascist, and are allowed to admire and support hate-mongers, so long as they do not advocate violent overthrow of the government. They can even join subversive associations or white supremacist hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan.  Thus is exposed the decidedly evil and decaying underbelly of a free society, and now, it can be stated that no leader in the history of the United States has gorged more on the rotted flesh of democracy than Donald Trump. Look to the source of the stench emanating from the Beltway these days, and you will find a maggot thriving in its life-sustaining cycle.

Unless you have been living under a rock, it is obvious that any person who has been requested  to work in the Trump administration must first deliver a boot-licking pledge of loyalty…not to country, as the oath of office requires,  but to Donald Trump. Trump was never a politician of any stripe. He was, and is, simply a grifter and carnival barker who migrated from reality television into the political arena.  While Trump claims to be a member of the Republican Party, most of his political donations were made to democrats.

It was genetic code and environmental experience that gifted Trump with his impoverished persona, and an ever-present psychotic impulse which drives his bizarre and unpredictable behavior. Trump’s racist lineage is legendary.

Trump’s father, Fred Trump, who died in 1999, was arrested at a KKK rally in New York City in 1927.  Donald Trump proved that he inherited his father’s racist tendencies when he publicly prosecuted a group which would come to be known as the “Central Park Five.”

They were five young black and Hispanic men ranging in age from fifteen to eighteen years old who were arrested and convicted in the 1989 beating and rape of a 28-year-old jogger in New York City’s Central Park. Trump took out full-page ads in four New York newspapers demanding the death penalty for the convicted offenders. In 2002, a new investigation revealed beyond all reasonable doubt that serial rapist Matias Reyes alone had committed the crime.  All five of the convicted offenders were exonerated and freed after serving between six and thirteen years in prison. The city of New York paid the wrongly convicted five a total of 40 million dollars. Out of racially motivated hatred, Trump refused to apologize for the ads, or to even admit that the teenagers had been wrongfully convicted. Instead, he doubled down, and continued to press the “alternate fact” that the five were guilty, and should have been executed.

During the presidential election campaign, Trump touted himself as a successful businessman.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Trump is a failed real estate investor who used a variation of the Ponzi scheme to cover his failures; he simply borrowed more money to cover his massive losses and bankruptcies, and when U.S. bankers denied him credit as a toxic risk, he went overseas to foreign money managers. Obviously, some of those bankers were connected to individuals who demand quid-pro-quo as a condition for releasing funds.

The infamous and well-traveled Access Hollywood tape exposed Trump as a misogynist and predator.  On the tape, Trump indicated that he might start kissing a woman he was about to meet during filming, and then said:

“I don’t even wait.  And when you’re a star, they let you do it, you can do anything…grab them by the pussy.”

Following release of the Access Hollywood tape, the New York Times on October 16, 2016 published an article detailing how Trump had degraded and marginalized women over a period of four decades.

Trump is a con man without a conscience. His so-called “institution of higher learning,” Trump University, was brought to court on two class action lawsuits originating in California, and was sued by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman for fraud, and running a “phony university.” In November 2016, Trump settled the cases for 25 million dollars, with an additional one million dollars in penalties to the state of New York for violating state education laws.  Quoting Eric Schneiderman:  “Today’s $25 million settlement agreement is a stunning reversal by Donald Trump and a major victory for the over 6000 victims of his fraudulent university.”

In August 2017, white supremacists held a torch-lit rally in Charlottesville, Virginia to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. Inspired by white nationalist Richard Spencer, the rally touched off 24 hours of racial hatred, violent clashes, and ultimately, the death of a counter-protester. Donald Trump drew praise from hate-mongers when he referred to the “blood and soil” chanters as “fine people.” However, he incurred the wrath of decent people everywhere.

In late September, Trump used a campaign rally in Huntsville, Alabama to attack NFL players and Arizona Senator John McCain. Ostensibly, Trump was there to urge support for Republican senate candidate Luther Strange, but a typical Trump sideshow emerged.

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick began protesting over the shooting of unarmed blacks by police about a year ago by kneeling during the national anthem. Kaepernick has often stated that he never meant any disrespect to people who died defending the principles of freedom. Nevertheless, Trump seized the occasion to conflate the issue and fire up his core supporters with a racist taunt:

“Wouldn’t  you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he’s fired.”

The NFL is primarily a league comprised of black athletes. Thus, in the foregoing statement there is no distinction to be made between “son of a bitch” and the n-word.

John McCain is fighting for his life; he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Nevertheless, Trump ridiculed McCain during the rally for his vote against a draconian health care proposal by senate Republicans, and on cue, Trump’s admiring supporters soundly booed McCain.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called out these rally-goers as something less than humane.  Scarborough explained that he was raised in the same Southern region, went to the same public schools, went to the same Baptist church and the same public colleges. Then he asked: “Who raised these people?  Who have they become that they would boo a man who is fighting for his very life?” He closed with:

“If you still go to church, you need to pray for yourself this Sunday morning in church. And then, when you get your head screwed on right, and you start putting humanity ahead of politics, against stupidity, against the tribalism that is destroying this country, go home and tell your children the story of John McCain.”

Thank you, Joe.

Donald Trump is the very last person in this country who should be complaining about what some might perceive as an insult to the individuals who died while serving honorably and faithfully under the American flag. Those of us who wrote a blank check to the government by voluntarily serving in the military during the Vietnam era had to suffer the indignity of fellow citizens spitting on our uniforms as we passed through airports, while the cowardly Trump enjoyed numerous deferments orchestrated by his rich father. Furthermore, standing before a national audience, Trump invited foreigners to interfere in our last election, and following their successful intervention on his behalf, attempted to sell our government to the Russians. Only a vigilant Congress foiled his treasonous plans. Thus, as a former soldier, it is an incredibly galling experience to watch this traitor offer a hand-salute to current members of the military.

Those who continue to support Trump―excluding Russians, of course―do not think right, and probably never did. These purveyors of hate and division are not in any sense true Americans. Such individuals seem more like the inbred offspring of incestuous relations: emulate the leader you adore. Indeed, during an interview with radio personality Howard Stern, Donald Trump agreed to a description of his own daughter as “a piece of ass.”

This is the most powerful man on the planet; it would be difficult to imagine a more revolting specimen of humanity.
